Eventide Steps Inside: Eloise's Room

Eventide Steps Inside: Eloise's Room

What do you do when one beloved grandmother is named "Stella Elaine" and another is named "Helen Louise"? Combine those sweet middles and name your daughter “Eloise!” Lexi, mother of Eloise (now 6 months old), shared with us the story behind Eloise’s name and preparing their home for her arrival. “They’re two of the most inspiring and wonderful women I could have in my life,” she says of her grandmothers, “and now, my daughter’s life, too!”

Lexi certainly didn’t just throw together this stunning room in their small town Missouri home. Rather, she put admirable intention into each aspect of its design. One of her foremost goals was for the room to grow alongside Eloise as a place she would always love, but also be easy to adjust as “her interests become more defined.” Lexi also knew she wanted Eloise’s room to feel sophisticated and elegant, though still approachable and playful for a little girl. Here is Lexi’s mood board that conveys so consistently this refined, yet warm, atmosphere she was after from the start. From the bumblebee rug to the Jenny Lind crib, she really hit the nail on the head in executing this vision.

Lexi and her husband teamed up to bring Eloise’s room to life. Lexi vision-casted, while her husband and extended family did the painting and created several pieces of custom furnishings, including the crocheted bee mobile (sweeeet) made by her sister and bookshelves by her dad. Alongside these handcrafted gifts, Lexi adds the framed Carleigh Courey watercolor prints, bee rug, and Eventide Name Pennant to her decor favorites. The rest of the room was curated from antique, thrift store and Marketplace finds, excepting the glider which she admitted was a splurge: “I definitely feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth with the recliner because I slept in it for two weeks straight after we came home from the hospital!” (Relate, anyone?)

Eloise’s Name Pennant was made using a beige background, cream cursive lettering (more feminine for the room setting, Lexi noted), and cream siding.  “I knew I wanted something neutral that would fit into whatever style/design she wanted as she gets older.”

Each detail of Eloise's room speaks to the love her family has for her. What more could a girl ask for than to have a place of her own that is cozy and lovely and safe and filled with reminders or how treasured she is? Thank you, Lexi, for this glimpse into your home and heart for dear Eloise!
