Eventide Steps Inside: Andie Kay's Nursery

Eventide Steps Inside: Andie Kay's Nursery

When Whitney found out at 33 weeks pregnant that her husband's job was relocating them from their Georgia home to Knoxville, TN, she had to flex her nursery plans a bit (and so much more - can you imagine?!). Up until that point, she had dreamed up a room "complete with paint, wallpaper, wainscoting, and a fun light fixture." With a temporary rental in her future, she moved through some initial disappointment to ultimately create a room she is now genuinely pleased with--and as she should be! Both vibrant and peaceful, with a stunning color palette and flow, the finished product is truly a work of art.

In early August 2024, their Andie Kay was born. And not only did they decide on her name mid-labor, but Whitney also managed to message Allison between contractions to rush-order a pennant! This girl can get things done! The name "Andie" was inspired by Whitney's mother (Teresa Ann) and "Kay" by her husband's mother (Sondra Kay). What a creative and beautiful way to honor these mothers they love. "Andie" also means "brave" and "strong" which, Whitney notes, they “hope Andie Kay will carry with her throughout her life as she trusts the Lord.”

Andie Kay's nursery aesthetic is much like the rest of the home, Whitney shared. She and her husband love mid-century modern furniture and design and also draw from their travels throughout their home. Her mood board reflects these design preferences impeccably and specifically features a Jess Franks painting, rug from Urban Outfitters, and Eventide Name Pennant, three of her favorites pieces she knew she wanted to include. "To me, the pennant really personalizes and completes the room," she told us. We couldn't agree more.

Whitney chose a light blue, light pink, and burnt orange pennant, which hangs directly below framed photos from their babymoon at Lake Louise in Banff National Park (swoon!). She wanted the pennant colors to coordinate with those in the rug and painting and used the Simulator for some help. From the rich brown of the crib to the pops of turquoise and calming balance of the pinks, the colors in this space really do make the room so unique and relaxing.

Whitney, we are thrilled for you on the arrival of Andie Kay and so appreciate you sharing this part of your story with us. Thank you for this glimpse into your beautiful home!
